My name is Nancy Montuori and I founded Ordinary Vegan back in May 2011. It all began when I went to see the documentary movie “Forks Over Knives.” I left that movie convinced of the connection between food and disease and I wanted to scream it from the rooftops. “You don’t have to be sick anymore, all you have to do is change your diet.” So I adopted a plant-based lifestyle and began to share my journey, tips and recipes on my blog – Ordinary Vegan.
In a very short time, I was able to discontinue my statin medication for high cholesterol and my energy level was sky high. Those were just a couple of the immediate health benefits to eating plant-based.
There were struggles but I didn’t give up. I studied everything I could about plant-based nutrition. Before long I realized that education was the key to maintaining a healthy plant-based diet so I received my certificate in plant-based nutrition in 2013. I continue to be trained by a variety of experts and research every study available on the connection between food and disease.
In 2016 I began podcasting. The response to my nutritional podcasts was so positive that I realized that I had a gift. I could take complex nutritional information and make it easy for anyone to understand. I also knew I had such a passion for nutrition and I wanted everyone to have the same energy and robust health that I was experiencing.
So I decided that I was going to devote 2016 to creating an easy to understand online course in plant-based nutrition. I decided to call the course the acronym H.E.L.P – Healthy Eating and Living With Plants because I want to H.E.L.P. everyone I can.
Health and wellness isn’t a destination, but an ongoing relationship with your own body. A compassionate relationship, built on kindness and respect to yourself, animals and the planet. And when you put that kind of love out in the world, it comes back twice-fold. Becoming vegan changed my life. I am kinder. I became empowered. I faced my fears. I transformed. I healed and it all started with a plant-based diet.
Now my focus is to share this amazing journey of compassion with you and help you follow your dreams. Transformation isn’t easy, but I promise you are worth it!
